Ar ôl munud neu ddwy fe ddaeth un arall, ac un arall, ac yna bedwar neu bump, ac aeth pob un ohonynt heibio i Tom, a llamu i fyny'r rhaeadr gan chwipio'u cynffonnau arian. Yn awr ac yn y man, fe neidiodd un ohonynt o'r dŵr a thros y graig gan ddisgleirio'n hardd yn yr haul.
And in a few minutes came another, and then four or five, and all passed Tom, rushing and plunging up the cataract with strong strokes of their silver tails, now and then leaping clean out of the water and up over the rock, shining gloriously for a moment in the bright sun, Tom was so delighted that he could have watched them all day long.

Yna cofnodwyd y planhigion gan artistiaid ar gyfer ymchwil gwyddonol ond hefyd, gyda'r sgil artistig a thechnegol gorau posibl, galluogwyd eraill i ryfeddu ar y rhywogaethau newydd o blanhigion megis rhododendron a Banksias.
The text will describe how, during the 'days of discovery' botanists journeyed to remote and dangerous locations searching for rare and potentially economically important plants. The plants were then recorded by artists for scientific research but also, with the highest artistic and technical skill, allowed others to wonder at the new species of plants such as rhododendrons and Banksias.

a gyhoeddwyd ym 1929, dywedodd y Swrealydd Magritte o wlad Belg fod pob delwedd 'yn awgrymu bod yna ragor y tu ôl iddi.' O edrych arnynt drwy ffrâm ar ffurf afreolaidd, y delweddau sydd yma yw awyr, llen o blwm gyda chlychau sled o'i gwmpas, tu blaen ty^, dalen o ffurfiau papur, coedwig a thân.
, published in 1929, the Belgian Surrealist Magritte observed that each image 'suggests that there are others behind it'. Viewed through a freestanding frame of irregular shape, these images are a sky, a lead curtain festooned with sleigh bells, a house fa?ade, a sheet of paper cut-outs, a forest and a fire. The title evokes the fear of the invisible which pervades the artist's work and reflects the Surrealists' fascination with the subconscious.

Rydym wedi gweld tystiolaeth ar gyfer agorydd (chamber) y ffynnon - wedi'i fondio â morter calch - a'r tu ôl i'r agorydd mae rwbel ôl-lenwi a fyddai wedi gwastatáu'r tir o'i amgylch. Mae yna rywfaint o dystiolaeth bod pwll y tu hwnt i'r agorydd, ac o amgylch ei ymyl rydym yn dod o hyd i rannau clai a rwbel llai - o bosib yn awgrymu ymyl pwll o gyfnod y Llychlynwyr!
"The team is now investigating a range of features around the spring. Evidence for a well chamber has been recognised - bonded with lime mortar - and behind this is a rubble backfill that would have levelled the ground around this chamber. There is some evidence for a pool beyond this chamber, and around its edge we are picking up areas of clay and smaller rubble that may represent a Viking-period pool edge!

O 1872 hyd 1966, pan gaeodd y ffowndri dros dro, defnyddid y craen i godi a gostwng y blychau mowldio. Fe'i defnyddid hefyd i ddal lletwad yn llonydd i dderbyn yr haearn tawdd o'r ffwrnais, ac yna ei symud i'w safle uwch ben y mowld cyn tywallt yr haearn.
From 1872 to 1966, when the foundry closed temporarily, the crane was used to raise and lower the moulding blocks. It was also used to hold a ladle steady to receive the molten iron from the furnace before moving it to its position above the mould, then pouring the iron. There is a smaller brass smelting furnace to the right of the cupola. This would be used to cast bearings and other such pieces.

In some cases, access to particular objects or specimens which are of sufficiently high value or fragility will be restricted to bona fide research workers only. There are also specific rules regarding access to human remains. Access will normally be via personal visit. Archaeological and numismatic specimens are generally lent only to temporary exhibitions but, exceptionally, may be lent for longer term exhibitions or for purposes of study.

Tua 10 o'r gloch fe ddechreuodd Roger godi'r 30cm o bridd uchaf oddi ar fy ffos - dyna ddyfnder y pridd sydd wedi'i aredig yn y cae. Erbyn iddo orffen hynny roedd ychydig o gerrig mawr yn dechrau dod i'r golwg ar yr wyneb.
Around 10 o'clock Roger set to work machining off the top 30cm of soil from my trench - that's the depth of the plough soil in this field. By the time he was finished there were already a few large stones poking up through the surface. Then it was over to us to clear the rest of the spoil and tidy up the sides of the trench with mattocks, shovels and wheelbarrows.

3.1 We will concentrate on our strengths in object-orientated and multi-disciplinary topics. Museums are uniquely placed to deliver research in areas that universities are either largely incapable of doing or from which they have diverged. Museum research is object or specimen-orientated, with particular strengths in material culture and taxonomy. There is also great potential for multi-disciplinary working.

In the early hours of 21 September 1949, many people in north Wales and Cheshire saw a brilliant light travelling rapidly across the sky. At 1.45 am a guest at the Prince Llewelyn Hotel, Beddgelert heard a series of dull explosions, followed by three or four seconds' silence, ending with a buzzing sound 'like a light aeroplane' which grew in intensity until a sound of shattering roof slates was heard.

Minerals have played a major role in the economic and social development of Wales since the Bronze Age. Since these ancient times, mineral outcrops and mines have been worked throughout Wales; by Romans and Cistercian Monks, and on into the heyday of Welsh metal mining in the mid nineteenth century, when virtually every outcropping vein or fault was tried by the drivage of adits or the sinking of shallow shafts.

Mae'n seremoni hynafol iawn. Yr oedd yr arfer o gystadlu am gadair yn llys y Brenin eisoes yn hen yng nghyfnod Hywel Dda yn y ddegfed ganrif a phan gynhaliodd yr Arglwydd Rhys ei 'lys yn ardderchog' yn Aberteifi yn 1176, cadair yr un oedd gwobrau'r prif fardd a'r prif gerddor.
It is a very old ceremony. The custom of competing for a chair in the King's court was already well-established in Hywel Dda's time in the tenth century and when the Lord Rhys 'held his court excellently' in Cardigan in 1176, the prize for the chief poet and chief musician was a chair each. Then, in c.1541, silver chairs were awarded at the Carmarthen eisteddfod and once more at the Caerwys eisteddfodau in 1523 and 1567.

Hefyd, o feddwl am y darn o'r tlws a ddaeth i'r golwg yn rhan ddeheuol y ffynnon (yn y bwletin diwethaf), rwy'n amau bod hwnnw'n perthyn i gyd-destun canoloesol cynnar, ond ei fod wedi cael ei symud adeg carthu'r ffynnon.
The spring is also revealing its secrets. There are indications that its eastern half has been dredged, and I suspect that the brooch terminal found to the south of the spring (see previous update) originated from an early medieval context disturbed during this activity. However, the arrangement of some of the larger stones within the spring suggests that evidence for an early pool may survive within our excavation area."

A shape poem describes an object and is written in the shape of the object. Ask children to choose their favourite object from their museum visit. Firstly have them think of the reasons they chose the object, and some words to describe it. Ask them to write this down as this will be the 'ideas bank' for their poem. Then ask them to draw the object, and then write their poem within the shape.
