Abu Dhabi Ports Company (ADPC) awarded two major earthworks contracts for the Khalifa Industrial Zone in Taweelah. The contracts, which together involve more than 40 million cubic meters of landfill and a total cost of AED 1 billion, have been awarded to two prominent contractors, Al Jaber Transport & General Contracting LLC and Ghantoot Transport & General Contracting Establishment. The awards of these contracts mark the start of the construction activities in Area A of Khalifa Industrial Zone, which reflects 53 square kilometers of the total 137 square kilometers of Khalifa Industrial Zone.

يتطلب نطاق العمل من المقاولين القيام بنبش ومسح ما يقرب من 19 كم مربع من الأراضي داخل منطقة خليفة الصناعية، ثم يقومون بحشو ودمج وتسوية المنطقة لتصبح على مستوى مرتفع جديد يبلغ أكثر من 2.5 متر فوق مستوى سطح البحر. ويتطلب تنفيذ العقدان قيام ما يقرب من 300 شاحنة بنقل أكثر من 1.2 مليون متر مكعب من الحشو كل شهر (أي ما يعادل حركة 1500 شاحنة كل يوم) وذلك من المنطقة التي تملكها شركة أبو ظبي للموانئ في شرق طريق الشيخ راشد السريع إلى منطقة الطويلة الصناعية. وسوف يتم الانتهاء من الأعمال في غضون 36 شهرا وسوف يترتب عليها توفير مناطق ممهدة صالحة للتطوير المرحلي.
