The joint participation is a result of the activities of the BSCC – Promoting Partnerships Project implemented by the Bulgarian-Swiss Chamber of Commerce under the Bulgarian-Swiss Cooperation Programme. The Project is funded by the Swiss Government through the Partnership and Expert Fund.

SwiSSSoirée served to the around 250 guests freshly cooked Raclette cheese, the culinary symbol and pride of Switzerland. Next to many other typical Swiss food specialties and wines, the evening promoted variety of Bulgarian farmer’s cow, sheep, buffalo, goat and blue cheeses from protected nature areas in the Western and Central Balkan Mountain, which production has been supported by the project “For the Balkan and the people” within the Bulgarian-Swiss Cooperation Programme.

The main purpose of the event was to provide further opportunities for joint initiatives and contacts between BSCC members, other Swiss companies and business representatives from the area of Sevlievo. During the official part, the hosts of the meeting presented their organisations: the Municipality of Sevlievo, Sevlievo 21st Century Business Association, ABB Bulgaria EOOD, Sevlievo Branch and Ideal Standard – Vidima AD. The BSCC also presented its activity and the currently implemented project funded under the Partnership Fund of the Bulgarian-Swiss Cooperation Programme.

We had the pleasure to learn personally from Ms. Manuela Maleeva about the activity of the Swissclinical Foundation, established in 2008 by the three Maleevi sisters and their friends and supporting children with orthopaedic problems in Bulgaria. Swissclinical works in close collaboration with the Stara Zagora Community Donation Fund whose Chairperson Ms. Daniela Dimitrova also presented the activities in support of the children with orthopaedic problems. She emphasized on the excellent co-operation with Swissclinical and with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Stara Zagora, whose Chairman Oleg Stoilov also attended the meeting. (Presentation)

EU Funds Management Minister Tomislav Donchev and Ambassador Beatrice Maser Mallor, Head of the Economic Development and Cooperation Division at the Swiss Federal Department of Economic Affairs, signed an Agreement on the Project Preparation Fund, the Government Information Service said in a press release Tuesday. This is the first bilateral agreement implementing the Swiss-Bulgarian Cooperation Programme, by which Switzerland grants Bulgaria a non-reimbursable contribution of 76 million Swiss francs, or 105,848,240 leva, for a disbursement period of up to ten years. The Programme covers projects in four priority areas:

Swiss Ambassador in Sofia Regina Escher said that the Programme is intended to promote Bulgaria's social and economic development. "We want to see tangible results for Bulgarian citizens, so that they can feel that the P r o g r a m m e works," Escher added. "Compared to the EU funds, the Programme will probably be small, but we want it to be of high quality and of an expanding effect." The Programme is implemented through projects and Thematic Funds and is managed by the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs and by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation.

SwiSSSoirée” presented the typical culinary specialties of the country as roesti, Alpine pasta, Swiss barley soup, tart with Gruyere cheese, etc. Undoubtedly, the food highlight of the evening was the freshly cooked Raclette cheese, one of the culinary prides and symbols of the Alpine Switzerland.  The Swiss specialties were nicely complemented by Bulgarian cheeses and yoghurt, genuine farmers’ products from the Balkan Mountain Range which production has been supported within the Swiss funded project “For the Balkan, for the people”.
