Пореден нов вид бе установен в защитената местност „Пода". На 31.10.2016 г. един черен кълвач ( Dryocopus martius ) долетя от югоизток и достигна почти до сградата на Природозащитния център. Очевидно не намери нищо привлекателно в центъра, защото свърна и отлетя към обраслия с дървета склон на канала до защитената местност.

The next new species was recorded at Poda Protected Site. On 31.10.2016 a black woodpecker ( Dryocopus martius ) arrived from South-East and almost reached the building of the Nature Conservation Centre. Obviously the bird did not find anything attractive there, as it turned and flew towards the forested slope on the other side of the canal near the protected site. Though obviously an occasional visitor, the black woodpecker became the 282nd species in the Poda bird list. През последните дни миграцията на птиците над „Пода" е много оживена, но странна по състав. Белите щъркели почти липсват, като изключим отделни птици и малки ята. Отбеляза се и един черен щъркел. Почти ги няма лястовиците, но пък черногушите ливадарчета имат добро присъствие.

During the last days there is very busy migration over Poda. Active, but with strange composition. Almost no White Storks, except single birds or small flocks. Single Black Stork also passed over. Almost no swallows and martins, while the Stonechats are in good numbers. First Hoopoe was registered recently. Numerous are the Common Buzzards, hundreds of which are flying in a day. Tens of Marsh Harriers migrate over the site, putting in stress the local pairs, already preparing for breeding.
