Аннотация. В работе рассматривается развитие концепции мысленного языка в средневековой философии: от чисто гносеологической к теологической и символически-инструментальной. Показаны две тенденции этого развития, в рамках которых в XIII-XIV вв. обсуждались проблемы универсального характера мышления и его отношения к языку: теологическая, ведущая свое начало от Августина, и логическая, родоначальником которой был Боэций.
