The new advertising strategy relies on a modern and clear vision with short and lucid messages, and makes use of one of the most popular symbols of contemporary communication – Smiley. Smiley was born 25 years ago, when Scott Falman, a professor in Carnegie Melon University in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania, used for the first time the combination of a colon, dash and bracket as a sign for a smile. This symbol was initially used in the university milieu and later on conquered the entire world. Today, the smiley sign, and the emoticons which appeared afterwards, offer people an extremely easy and practical way of expressing emotions they would otherwise have difficulty to convey.
