This was a unique project to be implemented jointly by AUNA in partnership with Educational Center for Youth (ECY) NGO from Azerbaijan with support of the CRS and it lasted from June 1 to August 31, 2007. Currently, young people in both countries lack the communication space to formulate their attitudes towards the NK conflict and its implications, as well as to systematize and discuss the impact of the country-specific and regional contexts on their own lives. Without this opportunity, youth from both sides are unable to fully influence regional development within a conflict sensitive environment where different actors and stakeholder perspectives are allowed.

The main emphasis is put on the young leaders to perform as change-makers and change-imposers in their communities both as individuals and through CSOs following the rights-based approach to development. To realize the necessity of proper prior planning of the projects in general, the participants were acquainted with such notions as the theory of change and logical framework. Overall, they learned the principles of project cycle management. At the end, they had capacities to develop local initiatives. Each regional group was to implement two projects on Human Rights. Their proposals tackled various human rights issues.

The project’s activities were addressed to university and college students. Seminars and workshops were organized on Human Rights issues and debating skills based on the predesigned manuals. The number of participants increased 180 young leaders from Yerevan and five Armenian regions – Gegharkunik, Shirak, Vayots Dzor, Tavush and Lori. In local communities the project partners were the regional offices of the RA Human Rights Defender. As a result of the conducted seminars the 30 most active participants were chosen to take part in the TV debate held on March 28, 2013.

On 9-14 May capacity building training was held in the scope of Empoering Youth for Human Rights and Developmetn project, which is currently being implemented in 4 communities: Abovyan (Kotayk), Tegh (Syunik), Vazashen and Noyemberyan (Tavush). The aim of the project is to empower the youth from targeted regions to become agents of change in their communities, as well as to be activly invlolved in desicion making processes by cooperating with duty bearers and CSO respresentatives.The project is following the human righst based approach to development and theory of change.

Building Youth Constituencies for Peace (BYCP) project is a follow up of the previous CRS E/ME and CORDAID funded 3-month South Caucasus Youth Peace building Initiative (SCYPI) implemented in 2007-2008 in Armenia and Azerbaijan jointly by the Armenian UN Association (AUNA) and Educational Center for Youth (ECY). SCYPI project gave space and opportunity for 170 young people in Armenia and 220 young people in Azerbaijan to express their reflections on the influence of the NK conflict on their individual lives, society and entire region. As a result of the project two films were recorded and 20 young people in each country trained as multipliers of the youth peace advocacy network in each country. The main aim of the BYCP project was to create adequate space and communication for young people from Azerbaijan and Armenia, as well as Azerbaijani and Armenian communities of Nagorno Karabakh to contribute to the regional peace and development through cross-border collaborative measures. Currently, young people in both countries lack the communication space to formulate their attitudes towards the NK conflict and its implications,. as well as to systematize and discuss the impact of the country-specific and regional contexts on their own lives. BYCP was provided young people of Armenia and Azerbaijan, as well as the Armenian and Azerbaijani communities of Nagorno Karabakh with adequate space to discuss the disclosed issues together and to elaborate joint initiatives.

The main emphasis is put on the young leaders to perform as change-makers and change-imposers in their communities both as individuals and through CSOs following the rights-based approach to development. To realize the necessity of proper prior planning of the projects in general, the participants were acquainted with such notions as the theory of change and logical framework. Overall, they learned the principles of project cycle management. At the end, they had capacities to develop local initiatives. Each regional group was to implement two projects on Human Rights. Their proposals tackled various human rights issues.

Research on Condition of Refugees in Armenia was conducted by CRINGO network with support of the Danish Refugee Council. AUNA actively took part in the research activities. Based on the findings of the research the bilingual report on issues of refugees was prepared and published.

Building Youth Constituencies for Peace (BYCP) project is a follow up of the previous CRS E/ME and CORDAID funded 3-month South Caucasus Youth Peace building Initiative (SCYPI) implemented in 2007-2008 in Armenia and Azerbaijan jointly by the Armenian UN Association (AUNA) and Educational Center for Youth (ECY). SCYPI project gave space and opportunity for 170 young people in Armenia and 220 young people in Azerbaijan to express their reflections on the influence of the NK conflict on their individual lives, society and entire region. As a result of the project two films were recorded and 20 young people in each country trained as multipliers of the youth peace advocacy network in each country. The main aim of the BYCP project was to create adequate space and communication for young people from Azerbaijan and Armenia, as well as Azerbaijani and Armenian communities of Nagorno Karabakh to contribute to the regional peace and development through cross-border collaborative measures. Currently, young people in both countries lack the communication space to formulate their attitudes towards the NK conflict and its implications,. as well as to systematize and discuss the impact of the country-specific and regional contexts on their own lives. BYCP was provided young people of Armenia and Azerbaijan, as well as the Armenian and Azerbaijani communities of Nagorno Karabakh with adequate space to discuss the disclosed issues together and to elaborate joint initiatives.
