Modificando il piano di Figaro, e agendo a sua insaputa, le due donne decidono che sarà la stessa Contessa e non Cherubino a incontrare il Conte al posto di Susanna. Mentre alcune giovani contadine recano ghirlande per la Contessa, Susanna consegna il biglietto galante al Conte che si punge il dito con la spilla....

Susanna wants no find the money Figaro owes and accordingly agrees to a clandestine meeting with the count. However, he chances to notice that Susanna intends to deceive him and so confirms the judge’s decision: Figaro must pay – or marry Marcellina. In the ensuring argument, it turns out that Figaro, who did not know his parents, is the son of Doctor Bartolo and Marcellina, the product of an earlier affair between the two. The happy reunion of parents and son is initially misunderstood by Susanna, who has in the meantime been given the necessary money by the countess. However, the matter is soon cleared up. Countess Rosina and Susanna have come up with their own plan: without Figaro’s knowledge, they write a letter to the count, asking him to meet Susanna that night in the palace park; however, in reality the countess, disguised as Susanna, will be waiting for him. Cherubino did not go to join his regiment, but sought refuge with Barbarina. When he takes part in the festivities dressed as a girl, Barbarina’s father exposes him. The count see a final opportunity to delay the wedding, but Barbarina threatens to reveal the nature of the count’s relationship with her. Now the wedding can finally take place. But the folly has not yet ended: as they dance, Susanna gives the count the fake love letter.

Barbarina sucht die Nadel, die sie im Auftrag des Grafen Susanna zurückbringen soll. Figaro überrascht sie dabei; ahnungslos erzählt sie ihm, von wem das Briefchen kam. Nun hält Figaro Susannas Untreue für erwiesen. Er wird ihr im finsteren Garten auflauern. Susanna erscheint in den Kleidern der Gräfin, ihre Gedanken gelten dem Geliebten. Im finsteren Park sind aber noch andere Nachtschwärmer unterwegs. Die Gräfin, in Susannas Kleidern, wird vom Pagen Cherubin bedrängt, der aber vom Grafen verjagt wird. Nach diesem Sieg lädt der Graf die vermeintliche Susanna in eine Laube ein. Figaro ist entsetzt, aber nicht lange: diejenige, die er für die Gräfin hielt, erkennt er an der Stimme als seine Susanna! Doch spielt er die Komödie zunächst noch mit, übertreibt sie sogar, indem er sich der „Frau Gräfin“ zu Füßen wirft. Prompt erhält er eine Ohrfeige. Dann aber wird zwischen den beiden Frieden gemacht.

La Condesa, dicta a Susana una carta para el Conde, para confundir a su marido. Mientras, entran un grupo de campesinas para ofrecerle flores a la Condesa, entre las que se encuentra Cherubino vestido de mujer. Antonio, el jardinero, y el Conde le descubren. Se celebra la boda entre Fígaro y Susanna y entre Bartolo y Marcellina, y durante el baile, Susana pasa al conde la nota que escribió dictada por la Condesa, fijando una cita para esa noche. La aguja con la que está prendida la carta, debe ser devuelta, en señal de conformidad. El plan es que esa noche no se encuentre con Susanna o con Cherubino, sino que se encuentre con ella, con la Condesa, así que intercambia su ropa con Susanna.
