Chociaż proces suszenia znacząco podnosi wytrzymałość drewna na warunki zewnętrzne, zwiększa też jego podatność na pękanie. Ponieważ AHEC nie miał nigdy możliwości monitorowania takiego drewna w konstrukcji na stałe ustawionej na zewnątrz, ten projekt był swego rodzaju eksperymentem i świetną okazją do sprawdzenia, jak się będzie sprawować drewno poddane obróbce termicznej.

Whilst drastically increasing the timber’s outdoor performance, the drying process also makes it more prone to cracking and breaking. As AHEC has never had the opportunity to monitor its use in a permanent outdoor environment, it was an exciting experiment to see how it would fair.

Der Trocknungsprozess erhöht zwar die Dauerhaftigkeit des Holzes im Außenbereich, macht es aber gleichzeitig auch anfälliger für Risse und Brüche. Da der AHEC nie zuvor die Gelegenheit hatte, den Werkstoff an einem permanent im Außenbereich genutzten Bau zu überprüfen, war es ein interessantes Experiment um zu beobachten, wie es sich draußen verhält.

Oltre a migliorare drasticamente le prestazioni del legno in applicazioni esterne, il processo di essiccazione ne aumenta anche la predisposizione a creparsi e rompersi. Poiché l’AHEC non ha mai avuto l’opportunità di monitorarne l’impiego in ambienti esterni permanenti, ‘Room on a hill’ è stato un esperimento davvero interessante.
