Ook als boven het ijsoppervlakte sneeuwstormen met temperaturen tot -50°C woeden, bloeit het plankton reeds lenteachtig onder het ijs. Het plankton verzamelen voor JBL PlanktonPur is echter wegens het metersdikke ijs nog niet mogelijk.

Auch wenn oberhalb der Wasseroberfläche Schneestürme bis -50 °C wüten, blüht das Plankton bereits vorfrühlingshaft unter dem Eis. Ein Fang des Planktons für JBL PlanktonPur ist aber wegen der meterdicken Eisstärke noch nicht möglich. Wenn JBL die letzten PlanktonPur Bestände verkauft hat, kann erst wieder im Juni neues Plankton gefangen werden. Der arktische Sommer dauert dann bis August und bietet nur in diesen drei Monaten Möglichkeiten, Plankton für JBL PlanktonPur zu fangen.

But the metre-thick layer of ice means it’s still too early to collect it. Once JBL has sold the last PlanktonPur stocks, no new plankton can be harvested until June.
