Elle le guide à la grande réunion des derviches qui a lieu tous les trente ans. Mais pour la trouver, il faut avoir la foi, savoir écouter le silence infini du désert avec son coeur. Leur voyage à travers l'immensité brûlante les amène à la croisée d'autres destins: Osman, qui rêve de retrouver les jeunes femmes découvertes au fond d'un puits. Zaid dont le chant a séduit une beauté irréelle qu'il a perdue. Et puis, le Prince qui a abandonné son royaume pour devenir derviche. Un conte ancien que Bab'Aziz rapporte à Ishtar tandis qu'ils cheminent péniblement dans le sable. Mais le désert est l'ami du derviche et il finira par révéler son secret à Bab'Aziz: le lieu de la réunion. Le vieil homme embrasse sa petite fille une dernière fois avant de la confier à Zaid dans un fantastique kaléidoscope de couleurs et de sons. Pour Bab'Aziz, il est temps de fusionner avec le sable ..
