Po vzniku Československé republiky se Gočár podílel na zrodu "rondokubismu", "národního slohu", jehož obloučkové ornamenty měly vyjádřit osobitost českých kulturních tradic a reprezentovat tak nový stát. Toto stadium Gočárova vývoje zastupuje Legiobanka v pražské třídě Na Poříčí (1921-1923) nebo Anglobanka na Masarykově náměstí v Hradci Králové (1922-1926). Pro toto východočeské město Gočár později navrhl výborný regulační plán a postavil v něm několik dalších monumentálních staveb, na nichž můžeme sledovat ústup od dekorativnosti "rondokubismu" k přísnějšímu projevu, připomínajícímu tvorbu holandského architekta Dudoka. Čestné místo mezi nimi patří školnímu areálu u ulice V Lipkách (1923-1928) nebo budově okresních úřadů v ulici Čs. armády (1931-1936), v jejímž stylovém projevu Gočár dospěl ke zmonumentalizovanému funkcionalismu, podobně jako u kostela sv. Václava na Čechově náměstí v Praze (1928-1930).

Il Consiglio municipale di Biel / Bienne deciderà nella sua seduta del 17 aprile se approvare la vendita di questo immobile allo Swatch Group SA. La nuova destinazione dell’immobile presuppone inoltre una modifica del piano di utilizzazione di zona, che verrà sottoposto alla popolazione di Biel / Bienne nella votazione popolare del 1° giugno 2008.
