Kurz nachdem Kobelt seine Stelle in der Heidelberger Anatomie antrat, stellte Tiedemann einen weiteren Professor, Theodor Bischoff (1807-1882), ein. Bischoff war, wie bereits Vincenz Fohmann (1794 -1837) vor ihm, der Schwiegersohn von Tiedemann. Im Jahr 1841 wurden beide Männer in einen regelrechten Skandal um die Veröffentlichung eines Präpariersaalfundes verwickelt wurden. Bischoff und Kobelt waren, wie Adolf Kussmaul (1822-1902) in seinem Buch „Jugenderinnerungen eines alten Arztes“ zu berichten wusste, mit zu höchst unterschiedlichem Naturell ausgestattet.
