This essay was written by an M.A. student in a Museum Practice seminar in the Department of Art History, Faculty of Fine Arts, Concordia University. The seminar was taught by Dr. Loren Lerner with the assistance of Dina Vescio, a M.A. graduate of the program.

Alain Ducasse often repeats that in cuisine, to go far one must never forget his roots. In the dining room certain elements are a reminder of the former décor of the restaurant. Thus, placed in the staff of the hull, the bas-relief inspired by the mushrooms embroidered on the old screens. This game of quotations and memory even leads to recycled materials.

One notes first that the muscles permitting the ankle’s flexion/extension (GAS/TA) contract up to 15% less when the Comète is worn. The same movement requires less muscle exertion, which makes it more efficient.

Almost all Canadian households used either natural gas or electricity, 50 percent versus 43 percent, to heat their water in 2007. Each region had one energy source fuelling a majority of its water heaters, a finding similar to that for space-heating systems (see Chart 54).

The first aspect anyone notices upon entering an office or any other room is, of course, the dominant color. Some colors such as orange or yellow will stimulate creativity, while blue and more neutral shades will bring tranquility to the environment. Meanwhile, green can be used either for a relaxed or stimulating atmosphere.

It is a common myth that quantitative indicators are inherently more objective and useful than qualitative indicators. What is important is that we utilize a balanced set of quantitative and qualitative indicators in order to measure progress towards achieving a particular program or strategic objective. Common practice seems to indicate that is reasonable to select 3 indicators for each performance measure (one quantitative, one qualitative and one of your choosing).

It should be noted that many federal departments have well-established relationships with the many different communities that they serve. During the VSI process, existing relationships were strengthened and reinforced and new collaborative relationships were established. These partnerships were supported by the provision of funding through the SIDPD program (which was a major component of the VSI and is the subject of a separate evaluation). Many SIDPD projects provided excellent lessons on how to build bridges between diverse communities and organizations in the broader voluntary sector.

All those who are baptised in the Church can pray for healing. It is absolutely normal that the faithful turn to God and expect the grace of healing from His love. Nevertheless, we still observe so much fear and reluctance within the Church in this area, although, at the same time, the Church encourages its’ children to pray for the sick. Of course, this prayer for the sick has to be done in a proper manner, peacefully and without exaggeration, without abuse, without seeking personal power or sensationalism. The fact that we pray for the sick does not mean that God is obliged to accomplish a healing each time! God heals whom He wants. However, sometimes God wants to heal a person but they have difficulty in accepting the healing that God wants to give.

Another comorbid factor that may be cause for concern is realizing that untreated PTSD if often associated with a major depression. The following are symptoms of depression: sadness, difficulty sleeping, constant crying, loss of interest and suicidal thoughts. This is not insignificant, it's truly quite important and is very strongly associated with PTSD. According to the studies, 52% of women and 52% of men with PTSD will also be diagnosed with major depression if the PTSD remains untreated. Society tends to think that, generally, time will heal all wounds and that gradually the symptoms will diminish. This is not what the scientific studies are telling us. What we are seeing is that if nothing is done, several diagnoses may be made, as the victims will try to treat this anxiety the only way they know how, by, for example, drinking alcohol, or else they will develop symptoms of a major depression.

From around 1890 to 1898 Harriss was the Canadian agent for Nicholas Vert, a leading European impresario based in London. In this capacity he organized North American tours for such artists as Sir Charles Santley in 1891 and Emma Albani [Lajeunesse] in 1896. During this period he composed mainly religious and salon pieces which were published by leading Canadian, English, and American companies, and two major works for solo, chorus, and orchestra, namely Daniel before the king, a dramatic sacred cantata, and Torquil, based on a Scandinavian legend. The first work, written in 1884 and published by the American firm G. Schirmer in 1890, was premiered on 18 April 1890 by the Montreal Philharmonic Society conducted by Guillaume Couture*. Torquil, published as a piano-vocal score by the Toronto firm Whaley, Royce and Company Limited in 1896, was first performed on 22 May 1900 by Frederick Herbert Torrington*’s Festival Chorus, accompanied by the Boston Festival Orchestra, at Toronto’s Massey Music Hall. His larger choral works show the influences of the oratorio tradition and of such composers as Mendelssohn and Wagner.

Once the second-biggest source of employment in Centre-du-Québec, processing, manufacturing and utilities has slipped to fourth place among the ten main occupational categories. The workforce stands at approximately 14,000, more than 12% of the total number of jobs in the region, compared with less than 6% provincially. The region ranks first in Quebec in terms of employment in this category. Most positions are held by operators, assemblers, fabricators and labourers who work in a wide range of industries, particularly food manufacturing, furniture, wood products, paper, fabricated metal products, machinery and transportation equipment. Nearly 90% of occupations require a fairly low skill level, calling for high school and/or training specific to the occupation. More than 34% of workers have no diploma, compared with 20% for all occupations combined. That is the second-highest proportion behind the primary sector. Many workers in this category have no training other than in-house training. They come in at an entry level and move on to more skilled jobs as they gain experience. Their skills, often learned on the job, are not easily transferable. Just over 42% of workers are 45 or older, which is more or less the same as the proportion in all occupations combined, where the average is 41.5%.
