Voor gezondheid betreft het 8 factoren, namelijk de overstroomde oppervlakte per capita, sterfte onder 5 jaar, ondervoeding, beschikbaarheid van water van een goede kwaliteit en medische voorzieningen, sanitaire voorzieningen, inentingen tegen kinderziektes en gebruik van contraceptie. Voor milieu zijn er 8 factoren van de 12 waarvoor voldoende gegevens zijn, met name bodemerosie, bevolking die woont langs de kust, oppervlakte bos en landbouwgrond, gebruik van pesticiden, luchtverontreiniging, bacteriële verontreiniging van het oppervlaktewater en aanwezigheid van bepaalde plant - en diersoorten. Een kwantificering van de factoren voor milieu en gezondheid voor zowel 2005 als 2000 toonde aan dat er een algehele maar beperkte verbetering waarneembaar was op het vlak van gezondheid. Op het vlak van milieu daarentegen was er een status quo. Met andere woorden, duurzame ontwikkeling heeft nog een lange weg te gaan in Quang Tri. Een cruciale factor voor een verdere verduurzaming is om voldoende aandacht te hebben voor zowel de kennis, de houding en de praktijk van de lokale bevolking ten aanzien van duurzame ontwikkeling. Momenteel blijkt namelijk slechts 15% van de lokale bevolking zich bewust te zijn van duurzame ontwikkeling. Het vergroten van het bewustzijn en de betrokkenheid van de lokale bevolking is een cruciale factor om duurzame ontwikkeling verder te bewerkstelligen in de regio Quang Tri. Het is een taak voor zowel lokale, nationale als internationale betrokkenen op het vlak van beleid en educatie.
