Although many saddle yards had to provide riders and horses, the word has nothing to do with riding. It comes from the Middle High German "satel", a measure of field. A "Sattelhof" was an estate with its own jurisdiction, free of front-line services and numerous taxes. So was Gut Wehlitz, which was given in 1435 by the bishop of Merseburg as a fief to a knight, who guaranteed the protection of the nearby trade routes. The estates belonging to Gut Wehlitz at that time stretched along the floodplain to today's airport.

Its name derives from Castle Heinfels, the emblem of the village. The older part of the castle lies at the highest point of the hill above Panzendorf, the western part added around 1500 is located slightly underneath. Also very worth to be visited in Heinfels is the Punbrugge bridge, one of the longest and most beautiful canopied wood bridges in Austria, dating back to the 18th century, as well as its three churches.

Le sociologue et historien Harald Welzer ne se montre pas particulièrement élogieux. "Le livre de Jonathan Littel, qui a suscité une grande attente, se distingue par son manque de qualité et son battage publicitaire. Il a atteint un nouveau niveau dans la fascination de l'ère nazie : il mélange les faits historiques, la violence de la pornographie et la solidité du protagoniste du roman, Aue, un intellectuel bourgeois. Il en résulte une pure expression de l'horreur. Seul point intéressant : Jonathan Littel n'a pas écrit un roman dans le sens classique du terme. Il a dressé une liste interminable d'éléments qu'il considère apparemment comme des faits."

Im Statens Historischem Museum gibt es eine Stabkirchenplanke von 1200 (welches auf eine noch ältere kirche hinweist). Der Altar wurde vermutlich aus dem Berggrund gemauert. An der Wand über der Taufe aus Speckstein hängt ein Triptychon aus Naturstein von Olga Aue-Birkfeldt.

This church is made of stone with a slate roof. It is the most northerly church in Dalsland and lies beautifully on an island in the lake Västra Silen. The church owns the island and has done so since 1797. A wooden church from 1662 is the precursor. There is evidence of an even older church. This can be found at the State Museum of History and is a stave church plank from Vårvik, dating back to 1200. It is a pine wood plank with finely cut ornaments. Top class works of art from Dalsland. The altar is sturdily built and probably made with bricks on the bedrock. The date of the altarpiece is unknown, but it is very old and in extremely good condition. On the wall above the baptismal basin hangs a triptych made of nature stone made by Olga Aue-Birkfeldt. A candleholder stands under the triptychon made by Walter Moström from Bengtsfors. The inventory includes a baptismal basin, made of soapstone, with a drainage hole and a procession crucifix from Limoges, France (early 1200). In the church porch there is an old door from the 1600?s church. The congregation has Karl XII:s bible from 1703. A large- scale restoration took place in1976.
