In July 1991, when Croatia declared independence, Yugoslav forces tried to capture the Prevlaka Peninsula (shelling the town of Dubrovnik in the process) and were driven back by the Croatians.

Die Sehnsucht nach Frieden und Stabilität im westlichen Balkan hat nichts mit Klischees zu tun, und man braucht sich davor nicht zu schämen. Stabilität im westlichen Balkan braucht die europäische Verbindung.

Rada Borić, tada programska koordinatorica Centra za žene žrtve rata i predavačica u zagrebačkom Centru za ženske studije i Vesna Kesić, jedna od osnivačica Centra za žene žrtve rata, te grupe za ženska ljudska prava Budi aktivna, budi emncipirana (B.a.B.e.), kao i sve aktivistice iz ženskih organizacija u Hrvatskoj – bile su predmet uvredljivih primjedbi u kolumni novinara i jednog od panelista u tom talk-showu, Milana Ivkošića. U Večernjem listu, dnevnim novinama koje su tada bile u vlasništvu države, Ivkošić je u svojoj kolumni pod naslovom One optužio Radu Borić i druge žene aktivistkinje kao izdajice koje surađuju sa «srpskim fašističkim agresorom». Također je ustvrdio da su feminističke aktivistice «anti-žene» jer nisu udane, jer su lezbijke i jer surađuju s ne-Hrvatima. Ivkošić je slične rasističke i seksističke primjedbe iznio i protiv ženskih organizacija u cjelini za vrijeme televizijske panel diskusije. Javne reakcije na samu emisiju bile su različite, pa je tako u Feral Tribuneu izišao članak Nabrekli rodoljub, autora Vladimira Primorca, a u Vjesniku u rubrici Reagiranja, tekst Nakaradni stavovi hrvatskih feministica Vesne Kesić i Rade Borić, autora Josipa Ivića.

A Balkan Baroque Band, azaz a BBB barokk kamaraegyüttes 2010 novemberében debütált Salinokon. Romániában először 2011 novemberében koncerteztek a bukaresti Atheneum színpadán. Az együttes abból az ötletből alakult, hogy közös zenekarrá szervezze mindazon balkáni barokk zenészeket Jean-Christophe Frisch francia fuvolista vezényletével, akiket a kulturális és pénzügyi korlátok határoltak el egymástól.

Vlastela je vodila vanjsku politiku Poljica, te su postigli da bosanski kraljevi, kada su kratko vrijeme zavladali Splitom i Poljicima, nisu Poljičko primirje pripojili Splitu. Isto su postigli kada je Venecija zavladala Splitom (1420) i Poljicima (1444).

As Polish critic Jaroslaw Klebaniuk states: “The staging presents not only an important voice in the discussion on nationalism (which is surely even more important in the Balkans, where not long ago ethnic cleansing led to the deaths of tens of thousands of people), but also a means of surpassing certain artistic boundaries. Insulting the audience, stirring up their patriotism or hyperpatriotism which is nationalism, group insults to people of other nationalities (mostly Croatians) – these are extreme means, normally unused. Repetitive murders of all the characters, killed by one of their fellow actors, are powerful, yet one scene was even more powerful. It was the extremely unusual scene in which the actors snapped their fingers and recited: ‘Croatian cunts, sucking Serbian cock‘ or chanted: ’Kill, kill the Ustashe, Istria is ours!’ not forgetting to add the exclamation ‘fucking audience’. So much poison and hatred in a seemingly touching, rhythmic, musically speaking simply beautiful work – that is a true transgression. Ridiculing nationalism with the help of an overt parody seems much easier than escalation into disquiet and pathos; and if it makes us laugh, we laugh with a heavy heart. The elements of grotesque in the play are close to perfection. This kind of artistic effect is rare.”

Comme l’écrit le critique polonais Jaroslaw Klebaniuk : « Outre faire entendre un son de cloche important dans le débat autour du nationalisme (qui pèse d’autant plus lourd dans les Balkans où il n’y a pas si longtemps encore, la folie nationaliste a mené à l’épuration ethnique et le massacre de dizaines de milliers de personnes), le spectacle dépasse aussi certaines frontières artistiques en faisant usage d’outils théâtraux extrêmes et rarement utilisés sur scène : insulter le public, exalter son patriotisme ou hyper-patriotisme, invectiver d’autres peuples ou nationalités (surtout les Croates). Si donner à voir à plusieurs reprises le meurtre de tous les personnages par l’un des comédiens de la troupe est un outil puissant, une autre scène tout à fait inhabituelle est plus forte encore, à savoir celle où les comédiens claquent des doigts et récitent “Salopes croates qui sucent des bites serbes” ou chantent “Tuez les Oustachis, l’Istrie est à nous !”, sans oublier d’y ajouter “Putain de public”. Autant de fiel et de haine crachés sur une musique a priori émouvante, rythmique, belle et harmonieuse, voilà une véritable transgression. Ridiculiser le nationalisme à travers une parodie manifeste paraît bien plus simple qu’une progression vers le trouble et le pathos ; et si cela nous fait rire, c’est avec le cœur lourd. Les éléments grotesques du spectacle atteignent une quasi-perfection. Ce genre d’effet artistique est rare. »

Spreading through the Neretva valley and on the western part of the Adriatic coast, they destroyed and burnt all settlements from Narona (Neretva Valley) to Salona (Solin/Split) which they conquered in 614 together with Aronija.

Archäologische Funde wie etwa altrömisches Geld und Haushaltsgeräte, Geräte und Handwerkszeug für die Bearbeitung der Erde werden im Heimatmuseum Baska Voda aufbewahrt, während 17 altrömische Grabdenkmäler mit gut erhaltenen Inschriften im Historischen Museum in Split aufbewahrt werden. Die altrömische Siedlung wurde Aronija genannt. Der Verfall von Aronija ist mit der Ankunft der Slawenen (Kroaten) im Bündnis mit den Awaren verbunden.  Beim Eindringen in das Tal des Neretva und westlich entlang der Adriatischen Küste haben sie alle Siedlungen von Narona (Tal des Neretva) bis Salona (Solin/Split), welches sie im Jahr 614 erobert haben, zerstört und niedergebrannt, und somit auch Aronija. Die überlebenden Einwohner von Aronija, pensionierte Offiziere, flüchten wahrscheinlich vor dem Zerstörungsangriff und suchen Schutz hinter den gut befestigten Mauern des Diokletianpalasts in Split, und deren Diener und Sklaven, romanisierte Illyrer verbergen sich in geschützen Gebieten hinter und unterhalb des Berges Biokovo. Am Ort des uralten Aronija, zerstört von Anfang des 6. bis Ende des 17. Jahrhunderts, blieb nichts!

Arheološki nalazi  kao starorimski novac i kućanski predmeti, alati i oruđe za obradu zemlje se čuvaju u Zavičajnom muzeju Baška Voda, dok se 17 starorimskih nadgrobnih spomenika s dobro očuvanim nekrolozima (natpisima) čuvaju u Povjesnom muzeju u Splitu. Starorimsko naselje nazivalo se Aronija. Stradanje Aronije povezano je s dolaskom Slavena (Hrvata) u savezu s Avarima. Prodirući dolinom Neretve i zapadno duž Jadranske obale uništili su i spalili sva naselja od Narone (Dolina Neretve) do Salone (Solin / Split) koju su osvojili  614-e godine,  pa tako i Aroniju. Pred rušilačkim naletom preživjeli stanovnici Aronije, umirovljeni časnici, najvjerojatnije bježe i traže zaštitu u dobro utvrđenim zidinama Dioklecijanove palače u Splitu, a njihove sluge i robovi, romanizirani Iliri sklanjaju se u skrivena područja  iza i podno planine Biokovo. Na mjestu drevne Aronije uništene početkom  6. do početka 17. stoljeća  nije bilo ništa!

Извориште руске војне теорије у Србији били су српски официри школовани у Русији и богата руска војна литература. Русија је била једина страна држава која је српским официрима без икаквих резерви отварала врата својих војних завода и установа. Снажан је био и утицај руске војне литературе, која је стизала у Србију и онда када дипломатски односи између Србије и Русије нису били добри. Богата руска војна литература имала је дугу традицију, велики број научних радника и знатна материјална средства на располагању. Путем руске војне литературе, која је била и преводилачка, у Србију су стизале идеје француских и немачких војних теоретичара. Србија је тражила узор у православној руској војсци са којом је имала доста сличности. Масу српске и руске војске чинио је осетљиви словенски елемент са великим процентом неписмених регрута. Велика пажња у обуци српске и руске војске била је посвећена описмењавању регрута, јачању националне свести и православне вере. Српска војска изградила је своју организацију, формацију и доктрину угледајући се на руску војну теорију и искуство.

Красиво и удобно допълнение към тази идилия е и река Колпа, която през лятото привлича стотици посетители от местните села и градове. Чиста и пълна с рибки, плуващи спокойно около къпещите се. В нашия къмпинг бяха направили чудесен „басейн“ за децата, в който освен децата се препичаха на слънце в топлата вода и някакви риби. Рибки се стрелват между хората и навсякъде крякаха диви патици. Водата не река Колпа през август се оказа приятно топла, но все пак достатъчно прохладна, за да ни спаси от жегите.

La République de Raguse s’est contentée de convertir formellement la population à la religion catholique romaine, sans pour autant toucher aux édifices sacraux déjà existants ou aux mœurs populaires. (Les différences entre les religions orthodoxe et catholique romaine au XVe siècle n’étaient pas aussi marquées qu’aujourd’hui, et pour les deux confessions le même calendrier julien était valable.) En 1799-1800 les habitants de Konavli se rebellent contre la seigneurie de Raguse, et dans la guerre des Russes, Monténégrins et Bocquais contre les Français en 1806-1807 une partie des habitants de Konavli adhère à l’armée alliée et brûle les fonds des Ragusains. C’est à partir de la chute sous l’ empire Austro-Hongrois en 1815 que commence l’ action systématique sur la dénationalisation, l’extirpation d’anciennes coutumes populaires slaves et la destruction et transformation des monuments serbes. Cette action dure jusqu’à la chute de l’Austro-Hongrie en 1918, et continue avec une plus grande intensité pendant soi-disant Etat Croate Indépendant et la communiste RS de Croatie dans l’ex-RSFY. Jusqu’au début de l’occupation autrichienne, même beaucoup plus tard, le nom croate était absolument inconnu à Konavli. Ce n’ est qu’à partir de la seconde moitié du XIXe siècle, le moment où tous les catholiques romains ont été déclarés Croates, que les habitants de Konavli commencent à se prononcer Croates, sous la pression des autorités et de l’Eglise.

Közéjük tartozott a Sydneyben élő antropológus, Vimláti László, aki néhány észak-ausztráliai, Arnhem-földi tárgyat, köztük két értékes kéregfestményt ajándékozott 1968-ban a múzeumnak. A montreali Nógrádi György bakteriológus-orvos nagyjából ugyanekkor adományozott egy kisebb húsvét-szigeti, recens faragványokból álló kollekciót az Óceánia-gyűjteménynek. Ehhez járult az 1970-es évek végén Pintér László ausztráliai aranyásó Tennant Creek (Ausztrália, Northern Territory) vidékéről való, mintegy 360 darabra rúgó anyaga.

Im Anschluss stellte Siniša Šikman von der NGO Canvas die gewaltlosen Aktionen der Otpor-Bewegung vor, die im Jahr 2000 zum Sturz von Miloševic führten. Anstatt Serbien zu verlassen, beschlossen Šikman und weitere Aktivisten der Bewegung Ende der neunziger Jahre, sich für Veränderungen im Land einzusetzen – ohne Gewalt und ohne Geld, ein Novum in Serbien. Die Gruppe startete mit kleinen, humorvollen Straßenaktionen, „denn wenn die Leute lachen, haben sie weniger Angst. Und wenn man das System ärgert, macht es mehr Fehler.“ Otpor richtete beispielsweise ein Silvesterfest aus und lockte mit Gerüchten über Auftritte von Prominenten und Stars eine große Menschenmenge an. Anstelle des angekündigten Konzerts wurden um Mitternacht die Namen von Opfern der von Serbien geführten Kriege verlesen. Die Botschaft: Serbien könne nicht stolz sein auf das, was es getan habe. Nachdem sich Otpor als politische Partei nicht etablieren konnte, wandte sich Šikman von der nationalen Politik ab, als Trainer für Strategien des gewaltlosen Widerstands ist er aber nach wie vor aktiv.
