Zuvor wurden sie bei der Landung auf dem Flughafen JFK von einigen Hundert Personen begrüsst. New Yorks Bürgermeister Michael Bloomberg lobte in einer Botschaft den innovativen Geist von Solar Impulse und unterstrich die Bedeutung dieses Projekts für die zukünftigen Generationen.

The Swiss representations in the United States shared their network and institutional contacts to make the Solar Impulse’s work, particularly that of the two pilots André Borschberg and Bertrand Piccard, as easy as possible. During their stop in Washington, D.C., the two pilots were able to meet U.S. Secretary of Energy Ernest Moniz. At the conclusion of their crossing, they were officially received by U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon at the United Nations headquarters in New York, after having been welcomed by several hundred people at JFK Airport when they landed. In a message, Mayor of New York Michael Bloomberg saluted Solar Impulse’s innovative approach and underlined its impact on future generations.

Les représentations suisses aux Etats-Unis ont mis à disposition leur réseau et leurs contacts institutionnels pour faciliter au maximum le travail de Solar Impulse, en particulier des deux pilotes André Borschberg et Bertrand Piccard. Ces derniers ont pu, lors de leur escale à Washington, rencontrer le Secrétaire américain à l’Energie, Ernest Moniz. A l’issue de leur traversée à New York, ils ont par ailleurs été reçus officiellement par le Secrétaire général de l’ONU, Ban-Ki Moon, au siège des Nations Unis, après avoir été accueillis par plusieurs centaines de personnes à l’aéroport JFK lors de leur atterrissage. Dans un message, le maire de New York, Michael Bloomberg, a salué l’esprit innovant de Solar Impulse et mis en exergue son impact pour les générations à venir.

Le rappresentanze svizzere negli Stati Uniti hanno messo a disposizione la loro rete e i loro contatti istituzionali per facilitare al massimo l'impresa di Solar Impulse e soprattutto dei due piloti, André Borschberg e Bertrand Piccard, che durante il loro scalo a Washington hanno potuto incontrare il segretario americano all'energia, Ernest Moniz. Al termine della loro traversata, a New York, i piloti sono stati ricevuti ufficialmente dal segretario generale dell'ONU, Ban-Ki Moon, presso la sede delle Nazioni Unite, dopo essere stati accolti da svariate centinaia di persone al momento dell’atterraggio all’aeroporto JFK. In una nota, il sindaco di New York Michael Bloomberg ha lodato lo spirito innovatore di Solar Impulse, sottolineando il suo impatto sulle generazioni future.
