La raison pourrait être que pour la plupart des petites pêcheries côtières européennes, le coût du carburant représente un pourcentage nettement plus faible des recettes, comme l’a souligné un rapport publié par la CE à la fin de l’année 2007. Selon ce rapport, « la consommation de carburant des navires de pêche côtière européens est plus faible que celle des plus grands navires puisque les petites pêcheries emploient des engins de pêche passifs et passent moins de temps en mer ».

Habituellement, on jette l'ancre près de la côte, donc nous avons la possibilité plus tard de perdre du temps le long du cap et ne pas avoir la palier de sécurité au milieu de l'eau libre. Cette plongée est réservée aux plongeurs expérimentés. A la fin de la plongée, il faut absolument visiter Cala Rossa, la célèbre baie ... c'est un vrai cratère volcanique.
